RESUMO

Introduction: The capacity to speak English for academic purposes is a pivotal facet of language education and assessment. Despite the substantial research approving the significant role of teachers in L2 learning, it remains unclear how exactly teachers' support for students' learning autonomy influences EFL learners' academic English speaking performance. Methods: To address this primary concern, this study drew ground from the Self-System Model of Motivational Development (SSMMD) and adopted a mixed-method approach to examine teacher autonomy support's direct and indirect effects on Chinese EFL undergraduates' academic English speaking performance through the mediation of basic psychological needs and classroom engagement. 247 first-year university students participating in academic English speaking courses were recruited in this study. Results and discussion: The quantitative results of the questionnaire indicated that students' perceived teacher support for autonomy directly predicted English speaking performance, and it also indirectly influenced students' speaking performance via the mediation of classroom engagement and basic psychological needs. Students' responses in the semi-structured interview further verified the positive effect of teacher autonomy support on academic English speaking development in the classroom. Pedagogical implications were also discussed based on the findings.

RESUMO

Clathrin-mediated endocytosis is an essential cellular internalization pathway involving the dynamic assembly of clathrin and accessory proteins to form membrane-bound vesicles. The evolutionarily ancient TSET-TPLATE complex (TPC) plays an essential, but ill-defined role in endocytosis in plants. Here we show that two highly disordered TPC subunits, AtEH1 and AtEH2, function as scaffolds to drive biomolecular condensation of the complex. These condensates specifically nucleate on the plasma membrane through interactions with anionic phospholipids, and facilitate the dynamic recruitment and assembly of clathrin, as well as early- and late-stage endocytic accessory proteins. Importantly, condensation promotes ordered clathrin assemblies. TPC-driven biomolecular condensation thereby facilitates dynamic protein assemblies throughout clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Furthermore, we show that a disordered region of AtEH1 controls the material properties of endocytic condensates in vivo. Alteration of these material properties disturbs the recruitment of accessory proteins, influences endocytosis dynamics and impairs plant responsiveness. Our findings reveal how collective interactions shape endocytosis.

RESUMO

Importance: With new legal abortion restrictions, timing of prenatal care initiation is critical to allow for discussion of reproductive options among pregnancies exposed to teratogenic medications. Objective: To investigate the prevalence of prenatal exposure to teratogenic medications and prenatal care initiation across gestational weeks. Design, Setting, and Participants: This descriptive, population-based cross-sectional study used health encounter data from a national sample of individuals with employer-sponsored health insurance. A validated algorithm identified pregnancies among persons identifying as female that ended with a live or nonlive outcome between January 2017 and December 2019. Data were analyzed from December 2022 to December 2023. Exposures: Prenatal exposure to any of 137 teratogenic medications, measured via pharmacy and medical claims. Measurement of prenatal care initiation was adapted from the Children's Health Care Quality Measures. Main Outcomes and Measures: Prevalence of prenatal exposure to teratogens and prenatal care initiation by gestational week. Timing of prenatal teratogenic exposure was compared with timing of prenatal care initiation and legal abortion cutoffs. Results: Among 639 994 pregnancies, 472 472 (73.8%; 95% CI, 73.7%-73.9%) had a live delivery (mean [SD] age, 30.9 [5.4] years) and 167 522 (26.2%; 95% CI, 26.1%-26.3%) had a nonlive outcome (mean [SD] age, 31.6 [6.4] years). Of pregnancies with live deliveries, 5.8% (95% CI, 5.7%-5.8%) were exposed to teratogenic medications compared with 3.1% (95% CI, 3.0%-3.2%) with nonlive outcomes. Median time to prenatal care was 56 days (IQR, 44-70 days). By 6 weeks' gestation, 8186 pregnancies had been exposed to teratogenic medications (25.2% [95% CI, 24.7%-25.7%] of pregnancies exposed at any time during gestation; 1.3% [95% CI, 1.3%-1.3%] of all pregnancies); in 6877 (84.0%; 95% CI, 83.2%-84.8%), prenatal care was initiated after 6 weeks or not at all. By 15 weeks, teratogenic exposures had occurred for 48.9% (95% CI, 48.4%-49.5%) of all teratogen-exposed pregnancies (2.5% [2.4-2.5] of all pregnancies); prenatal care initiation occurred after 15 weeks for 1810 (16.8%; 95% CI, 16.1%-17.5%) with live deliveries and 2975 (58.3%; 95% CI, 56.9%-59.6%) with nonlive outcomes. Teratogenic medications most used within the first 15 gestational weeks among live deliveries included antiinfectives (eg, fluconazole), anticonvulsants (eg, valproate), antihypertensives (eg, lisinopril), and immunomodulators (eg, mycophenolate). For nonlive deliveries, most antihypertensives were replaced by vitamin A derivatives. Conclusions and Relevance: In this cross-sectional study, most exposures to teratogenic medications occurred in early pregnancy and before prenatal care initiation, precluding prenatal risk-benefit assessments. Prenatal care commonly occurred after strict legal abortion cutoffs, prohibiting consideration of pregnancy termination if concerns about teratogenic effects arose.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Risk mitigation for most teratogenic medications relies on risk communication via drug label, and prenatal exposures remain common. Information on the types of and risk factors for prenatal exposures to medications with teratogenic risk can guide strategies to reduce exposure. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to identify medications with known or potential teratogenic risk commonly used during pregnancy among privately insured persons. STUDY DESIGN: We used the Merative™ MarketScan® Commercial Database to identify pregnancies with live or nonlive (ectopic pregnancies, spontaneous and elective abortions, stillbirths) outcomes among persons aged 12 to 55 years from 2011 to 2018. Start/end dates of medication exposure and pregnancy outcomes were identified via an adapted algorithm based on validation studies. We required continuous health plan enrollment from 90 days before conception until 30 days after the pregnancy end date. Medications with known or potential teratogenic risk were selected from TERIS (Teratogen Information System) and drug monographs based on the level of risk and quality of evidence (138 with known and 60 with potential risk). We defined prenatal exposure on the basis of ≥1 outpatient pharmacy claim or medical encounter for medication administration during target pregnancy periods considering medication risk profiles (eg, risk only in the first trimester or at a certain dose threshold). Sex hormones and hormone analogs, and abortion and postpartum/abortion hemorrhage treatments were not considered as teratogenic medications because of challenges in separating pregnancy-related indications, nor were opioids (because of complex risk-benefit considerations) or antiobesity medications if their only teratogenic mechanism was weight loss. RESULTS: Among all pregnancies, the 10 medications with known teratogenic risk and the highest prenatal exposures were sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (1988 per 100,000 pregnancy-years), high-dose fluconazole (1248), topiramate (351), lisinopril (144), warfarin (57), losartan (56), carbamazepine (50), valproate (49), vedolizumab (28 since 2015), and valsartan (25). Prevalence of exposure to sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim decreased from 2346 to 1453 per 100,000 pregnancy-years from 2011 to 2018, but prevalence of exposure to vedolizumab increased 6-fold since its approval in 2015. Prenatal exposures in the first trimester were higher among nonlive pregnancies than among live-birth pregnancies, with the largest difference observed for warfarin (nonlive 370 vs live birth 78), followed by valproate (258 vs 86) and topiramate (1728 vs 674). Prenatal exposures to medications with potential teratogenic risk were most prevalent for low-dose fluconazole (6495), metoprolol (1325), and atenolol (448). The largest first-trimester exposure differences between nonlive and live-birth pregnancies were observed for lithium (242 vs 89), gabapentin (1639 vs 653), and duloxetine (1914 vs 860). Steady increases in hydralazine and gabapentin exposures were observed during the study years, whereas atenolol exposure decreased (561 to 280). CONCLUSION: Several medications with teratogenic risk for which there are potentially safer alternatives continue to be used during pregnancy. The fluctuating rates of prenatal exposure observed for select teratogenic medications suggest that regular reevaluation of risk mitigation strategies is needed. Future research focusing on understanding the clinical context of medication use is necessary to develop effective strategies for reducing exposures to medications with teratogenic risk during pregnancy.

RESUMO

Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a polyketide mycotoxin that commonly contaminates agricultural products and causes significant economic losses. In this study, the efficient OTA-degrading strain AP19 was isolated from vineyard soil and was identified as Acinetobacter pittii. Compared with growth in nutrient broth supplemented with OTA (OTA-NB), strain AP19 grew faster in nutrient broth (NB), but the ability of the resulting cell lysates to remove OTA was weaker. After cultivation in NB, the cell lysate of strain AP19 was able to remove 100% of 1 mg/L OTA within 18 h. The cell lysate fraction > 30 kDa degraded 100% of OTA within 12 h, while the fractions < 30 kDa were practically unable to degrade OTA. Further anion exchange chromatography of the > 30 kDa fraction yielded two peaks exhibiting significant OTA degradation activity. The degradation product was identified as OTα. Amino acid metabolism exhibited major transcriptional trends in the response of AP19 to OTA. The dacC gene encoding carboxypeptidase was identified as one of the contributors to OTA degradation. Soil samples inoculated with strain AP19 showed significant OTA degradation. These results provide significant insights into the discovery of novel functions in A. pittii, as well as its potential as an OTA decomposer.

RESUMO

Purpose: Anlotinib is widely used in the clinical treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), alone or in combination with other anticancer drugs. The aim of this study was to investigate the real-world efficacy and safety of anlotinib-containing regimens. Patients and Methods: Confirmed advanced NSCLC patients who had received anlotinib alone or in combination were enrolled. An overall analysis of the efficacy and safety of anlotinib was performed in all patients, and then subgroup analysis was used to further compare the efficacy between anlotinib monotherapy and combination therapy. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS), and the secondary endpoints were ADR, ORR, and DCR. Results: A total of 240 patients were included. The overall median PFS was 8.5 months (95% confidence interval [CI]: 7.1-9.9 months). Anlotinib treatment regimens (monotherapy or combination therapy) and whether they received previous antiangiogenesis were associated with PFS. Anlotinib plus immunotherapy achieved longer PFS than anlotinib monotherapy (median PFS: 10.5 vs 6.5 months, p=0.007). Stratification analysis showed the PFS of anlotinib plus immunotherapy was significantly longer in male, adenocarcinoma, <=65 years old, patients stage IV, EGFR wild type, with extrathoracic metastasis, performance status scores ≥2, the first-line treatment, patients with a history of hypertension and no previous antiangiogenesis than anlotinib monotherapy. The median PFS of anlotinib plus chemotherapy, targeted therapy was slightly longer than anlotinib alone (respectively, 10.5 vs 6.5 months, p=0.095; 9.5 vs 6.5 months, p=0.177). Adverse reactions were mostly mild and acceptable, with hypertension being the most common. Conclusion: Anlotinib is effective and tolerable in advanced NSCLC patients. Immunotherapy combination with anlotinib significantly improved PFS. The efficacy of anlotinib may be impaired by previous antiangiogenic therapy, which can be investigated in further studies.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 becomes life-threatening for the older and immunocompromised individuals, whereas limited treatment is available on these populations. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have been reported to be useful in SARS-CoV-2 treatment and reduce SARS-CoV-2-related sequelae. RESULTS: In this study, we developed an autonomous cellular machine to secret neutralizing antibody in vivo constantly based on the clinical-grade MSCs, to combat SARS-CoV-2 infections. First, various modified recombinant plasmids were constructed and transfected into clinical-grade MSCs by electroporation, for assembly and expression of neutralizing anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. Second, the stable antibody secreting MSCs clones were screened through pseudovirus neutralization assay. Finally, we investigated the pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of neutralizing antibody secreted by engineered MSCs in vivo. The stable clinical-grade MSCs clones, expressing XGv347-10 and LY-CoV1404-5 neutralizing antibodies, exhibited their feasibility and protective efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 infection. Transplanted engineered clinical-grade MSCs effectively delivered the SARS-CoV-2 antibodies to the lung, and the immune hyperresponsiveness caused by COVID-19 was coordinated by MSC clones through inhibiting the differentiation of CD4 + T cells into Th1 and Th17 subpopulations. CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggested that engineered clinical-grade MSCs secreting effective neutralizing antibodies as cellular production machines had the potential to combat SARS-CoV-2 infection, which provided a new avenue for effectively treating the older and immunocompromised COVID-19 patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Public release of health data typically requires statistical disclosure limitation (SDL), but scant research demonstrates how real-world SDL affects data usability. Recent changes of federal data re-release policy allow a pseudo-counterfactual comparison of HIV and syphilis data suppression rules. METHODS: Incident counts (2019) of HIV and syphilis infections by county for Black and White populations were downloaded from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We quantified and compared suppression status by disease and county between Black and White populations and calculated incident rate ratios for counties with statistically reliable counts. RESULTS: Approximately 50% of US counties have incident HIV counts suppressed for Black and White populations compared with only 5% for syphilis, which has an alternative suppression strategy. The county population sizes protected by a numerator disclosure rule (<4) spans several orders of magnitude. Calculations of incident rate ratios, used as a measure of health disparity, were impossible in the 220 counties most susceptible to an HIV outbreak. CONCLUSIONS: Balancing tradeoffs between providing and protecting data are key to health initiatives worldwide. We encourage an increase in empirical research on the impact of SDL, especially in the context of health disparities, and recommend new approaches to avoid the "oppression of data suppression."

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Here, we systematically assessed the safety and immunogenicity of the heterologous ChAd/BNT vaccination regimens. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We evaluated the immunogenicity by the geometric mean titers ratio (GMTR) of the neutralizing antibody and anti-spike IgG. The safety of heterologous ChAd/BNT vaccination was evaluated using the pooled risk ratios (RRs) calculated by the random-effects model about the adverse events. Our study was registered with PROSPERO, CRD42021265165. RESULTS: Eleven studies were included in the analyses. Compared to the homologous ChAd/ChAd vaccination, the heterologous ChAd/BNT vaccination showed significantly higher immunogenicity in terms of the neutralizing antibody and GMTR of anti-spike IgG, but at the same time displayed higher incidence of total adverse reactions, especially for the local adverse reactions. Moreover, heterologous ChAd/BNT vaccination showed similar immunogenicity to the homologous BNT/BNT vaccination (GMTR of neutralizing antibody and anti-spike IgG) and similar safety. DISCUSSION: Heterologous ChAd/BNT vaccination showed robust immunogenicity and tolerable safety.

RESUMO

A water-stable ZnII-based coordination polymer (CP) with excellent photophysical behavior, namely [Zn2L(atez)(H2O)2] (compound 1; H3L = 4-(2',3'-dicarboxylphenoxy); atez = 5-aminotetrazole), was successfully prepared by the solvothermal reaction of Zn ions with a π-conjugated and semi-rigid multicarboxylate ligand H3L in the presence of N-containing linker atez. Compound 1 displays a hierarchically pillared three-dimensional (3D) (3,4,5)-connected (4·62) (42·64) (43·64·83) net which is based on two-dimensional (2D) multicarboxylate- ZnII layers strutted by the atez ligands. Sensing investigations of compound 1 reveal that this material can selectively and sensitively detect nitroaromatic compounds in water suspension through fluorescence quenching effect. In particular, it is worth noting that it shows highly specific detection of nitrobenzene (NB) and 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) with remarkable quenching constants (KSV = 7.5 × 104 M-1 for NB and KSV = 1.9 × 105 M-1 for TNP) and low limit of detection (LOD = 0.93 µM for NB and LOD = 0.36 µM for TNP). Investigations reveal that the probable mechanisms for such sensing processes are the concurrent presence of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) as well as photoinduced electron transfer (PET) between the CP and nitroaromatic molecules. This work not only offers an effective route to improve the application of fluorescent CPs but also provide one novel probable fluorescence probe for nitroaromatic compounds.

RESUMO

At present, the development and usage of degradable plastics instead of traditional plastics is an effective way to solve the pollution of marine microplastics. Poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) is known as one of the most promising biodegradable materials. Nevertheless, the degradation rate of PBAT in water environment is slow. In this work, we successfully prepared four kinds of high molecular weight polyester copolyesters (PBATGA) via quaternary copolymerization. The results showed that the intrinsic viscosity of PBATGA copolymers ranged from 0.74 to 1.01 dL/g with a glycolic acid content of 0-40%. PBATGA copolymers had excellent flexibility and thermal stability. The tensile strength was 5~40 MPa, the elongation at break was greater than 460%, especially the elongation at break of PBATGA10 at 1235%, and the thermal decomposition temperature of PBATGA copolyesters was higher than 375 °C. It was found that PBATGA copolyester had a faster hydrolysis rate than PBAT, and the weight loss of PBATGA copolymers showed a tendency of pH = 12 > Lipase ≈ pH = 7 > pH = 2. The quaternary polymerization of PBAT will have the advantage of achieving industrialization, unlike the previous polymerization process. In addition, the polymerization of PBATGA copolyesters not only utilizes the by-products of the coal chemical industry, but also it can be promising in the production of biodegradable packaging to reduce marine plastic pollution.

RESUMO

While the Food and Drug Administration's black-box warnings caution against concurrent opioid and benzodiazepine (OPI-BZD) use, there is little guidance on how to deprescribe these medications. This scoping review analyzes the available opioid and/or benzodiazepine deprescribing strategies from the PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane Library databases (01/1995-08/2020) and the gray literature. We identified 39 original research studies (opioids: n = 5, benzodiazepines: n = 31, concurrent use: n = 3) and 26 guidelines (opioids: n = 16, benzodiazepines: n = 11, concurrent use: n = 0). Among the three studies deprescribing concurrent use (success rates of 21-100%), two evaluated a 3-week rehabilitation program, and one assessed a 24-week primary care intervention for veterans. Initial opioid dose deprescribing rates ranged from (1) 10-20%/weekday followed by 2.5-10%/weekday over three weeks to (2) 10-25%/1-4 weeks. Initial benzodiazepine dose deprescribing rates ranged from (1) patient-specific reductions over three weeks to (2) 50% dose reduction for 2-4 weeks, followed by 2-8 weeks of dose maintenance and then a 25% reduction biweekly. Among the 26 guidelines identified, 22 highlighted the risks of co-prescribing OPI-BZD, and 4 provided conflicting recommendations on the OPI-BZD deprescribing sequence. Thirty-five states' websites provided resources for opioid deprescription and three states' websites had benzodiazepine deprescribing recommendations. Further studies are needed to better guide OPI-BZD deprescription.

RESUMO

The development of multifunctional fluorescent chemosensors for the detection of multiple targets remains challenging but of great importance. In this paper, one novel coordination polymer (CP), denoted as [Cd2(edda)(phen)2]∙H2O (compound 1, H4edda = 5,5' (ethane-1,2-diylbis(oxy)) diisophthalic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) is successfully designed and prepared under hydrothermal conditions. Structural analysis indicates that compound 1 possesses a one-dimensional (1D) double chain structure, then self-assembles into a three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular framework via π…π interactions between phen molecules. Interestingly, compound 1 is found to be tolerant in wide range of acidic to alkaline aqueous solutions (pH = 2-13). Fluorescent spectral investigations reveal that compound 1 exhibits highly selective and sensitive fluorescence responses toward MnO4-, Cr(VI) ions, acetylacetone (acac) and ascorbic acid (AA) by fluorescence quenching in the aqueous phase. The detection limits are in the very low range, reaching µM level for the detection of MnO4-, Cr(VI) ions, nM for AA and ppm for acac detection. The distinguished multi-responsive performance suggests compound 1 to be a potential multifunctional probe. Furthermore, the possible quenching mechanisms have also been systematically investigated in this work.

RESUMO

One novel cadmium(II)-coordination polymer [Cd3L2(datrz)(H2O)3] (CP 1) is controllably synthesized by surmising the astute combination of semi-rigid tricarboxylate acid 4-(2',3'-dicarboxylphenoxy) benzoic acid (H3L) and auxiliary ligand 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole (datrz). Structure analysis shows that CP 1 has a two-dimensional (2D) layer structure with a 5-nodal (43) (44·62) (45·64·8) (45·6) (47·66·82) topology. Further investigations reveal that CP 1 shows superordinary water stability and good thermal stability. The fluorescent explorations suggest that the as-synthesized CP 1 could emit blue light centered at 485 nm, attributing to ligand-based emission. In terms of sensing investigations, CP 1 could act as a fluorescent sensor for detecting hypochlorite (ClO-) and acetylacetone (acac) through fluorescence turn-off process in aqueous solution, and the detection limit could reach 0.18 µM and 0.056 µM, respectively. Further research reveals that it is more likely the N-H···O-Cl hydrogen bonds between -NH2 groups of the triazole ligands and O atoms of ClO- plays the key role in the system, which may serve as a bridge for the energy transfer, leading to fluorescence quenching of the chemosensor. While the photoinduced electron transfer (PET) combined with inner filter effect (IFT) should be responsible for the turn-off fluorescence of CP 1 triggered by acac.

RESUMO

This paper summarizes the cause of the debris flow impact train accident by investigating the local geological condition, meteorological data and field investigation that happened in Guizhou, China on 4 June 2022. The result showed that the major reason is the continuous heavy rain in the surrounding area, which led to a small landslide at the upper right of the tunnel entrance. Besides, the construction of the Jianrong Expressway in the upper reaches increased the catchment area, which makes the water content of the upper soil increase while the shear strength decreases. Such large-scale catastrophic accidents significantly threaten the local environment and public safety. Therefore, it is urgent to pay special attention to the changes in geological conditions along the line, especially the adverse effects of construction, to improve the early risk warning and post-accident treatment ability.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The novel coronavirus that has triggered the present COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread globally, resulting in widespread morbidity and mortality. Patients with cancer remain one of the most vulnerable subsets of the population to the disease. This study examined the effects of the pandemic on cancer patients' treatment, psychology, knowledge, attitudes, and practices. METHODS: A survey was emailed to 9861 patients at a cancer centre in Toronto, Canada. Descriptive results were summarized. Qualitative feedback was coded and summarized. Regression modelling was used to explore factors associated with patient psychological well-being, knowledge, attitudes, and practices. RESULTS: A total of 1760 surveys were completed, with a response rate of 17.8%. Most participants did not experience any pandemic-related treatment delays, and vaccination rates were high. Participants who identified themselves as non-white (OR 3.30, CI: 1.30-5.30; p ≤ 0.001), and those who referred to journal articles for information (p = 0.002) reported higher psychological impact scores. There were no significant predictors of whether participants would use personal protective equipment when leaving their homes or whether they would go to crowded places. DISCUSSION: This study provides another snapshot of cancer patients perceptions and needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

RESUMO

The main problem of manufacturing with traditional biodegradable plastics is that it is more expensive than manufacturing with polymers derived from petroleum, and the application scope is currently limited due to poor comprehensive performance. In this study, a novel biodegradable poly(butylene adipic acid/terephthalate-co-glycolic acid) (PBATGA) copolyester with 25-60% glycolic acid units was successfully synthesized by esterification and polycondensation using cheap coal chemical byproduct methyl glycolate instead of expensive glycolic acid. The structure of the copolyester was characterized by ATR-FTIR, 1H NMR, DSC, and XRD; and its barrier property, water contact angle, heat resistance, and mechanical properties were tested. According to the experiment result, the PBATGA copolyesters showed improved oxygen (O2) and water vapor barrier character, and better hydrophilicity when compared with PBAT. The crystallization peaks of PBATGAs were elevated from 64 °C to 77 °C when the content of the GA unit was 25 mol %, meanwhile, the elongation at the break of PBATGA25 was more than 1300%. These results indicate that PBATGA copolyesters have good potentiality in high O2 and water vapor barrier and degradable packaging material.

RESUMO

Salt stress is one of the factors that limits rice production, and an important task for researchers is to cultivate rice with strong salt tolerance. In this study, 211 rice accessions were used to determine salt tolerance germinability (STG) indices and conduct a genome-wide association study (GWAS) using 36,727 SNPs. The relative germination energy (RGE), relative germination index (RGI), relative vigor index (RVI), relative mean germination time (RMGT), relative shoot length (RSL), and relative root length (RRL) were used to determine the STG indices in rice. A total of 43 QTLs, including 15 for the RGE, 6 for the RGI, 7 for the RVI, 3 for the RMGT, 1 for the RSL, and 11 for the RRL, were identified on nine chromosome regions under 60 and 100 mM NaCl conditions. For these STG-related QTLs, 18 QTLs were co-localized with previous studies, and some characterized salt-tolerance genes, such as OsCOIN, OsHsp17.0, and OsDREB2A, are located in these QTL candidates. Among the 25 novel QTLs, qRGE60-1-2 co-localized with qRGI60-1-1 on chromosome 1, and qRGE60-3-1 and qRVI60-3-1 co-localized on chromosome 3. According to the RNA-seq database, 16 genes, including nine for qRGE60-1-2 (qRGI60-1-1) and seven for qRGE60-3-1 (qRVI60-3-1), were found to show significant differences in their expression levels between the control and salt treatments. Furthermore, the expression patterns of these differentially expressed genes were analyzed, and nine genes (five for qRGE60-1-2 and four for qRGE60-3-1) were highly expressed in embryos at the germination stage. Haplotype analysis of these nine genes showed that the rice varieties with elite haplotypes in the LOC_Os03g13560, LOC_Os03g13840, and LOC_Os03g14180 genes had high STG. GWAS validated the known genes underlying salt tolerance and identified novel loci that could enrich the current gene pool related to salt tolerance. The resources with high STG and significant loci identified in this study are potentially useful in breeding for salt tolerance.

RESUMO

Phase transfer of metal-organic frameworks is highly desired in many areas, which remains a challenge. Herein, we present for the first time a CO2-driven reversible transfer of amine-functionalized ZIF-90 between organics and water. A mechanistic study showed that the switching is ascribed to the reversible generation of hydrophilic ammonium salts from the reaction of CO2 with the amines on ZIF-90. This unique system has been used for the coupling of trans-esterification reactions, product separation and component recycling for green sustainable processes. This work opens up a new avenue for performing reactions effectively with an easy separation process.

RESUMO

Background: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is the most serious complication of chemotherapy in lung cancer patients with pre-existing ILD. The effect of anti-angiogenic drugs in lung cancer patients with ILD remains unclear. We examined the effect of anti-angiogenic drugs on reducing the risk of ILD progression in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients receiving chemotherapy. Methods: We analyzed the risk of ILD progression in 52 patients with advanced NSCLC with ILD who received first-line chemotherapy with (anti-angiogenic group, n = 22) and without (non-anti-angiogenic group, n = 30) anti-angiogenic drugs between August 2014 and January 2021. Results: The incidences of chemotherapy-related ILD progression were significantly lower in the anti-angiogenic than in the non-anti-angiogenic groups (0% vs. 20.0%, p = 0.033). However, there were no differences in other events as the competing risk factors of ILD progression between the two groups. The overall-cumulative incidence of ILD progression during the first-line and subsequent chemotherapy was 30.8% (16 of the 52). The median progression-free survival had no significant difference between the anti-angiogenic and the non-anti-angiogenic groups (10.3 vs. 8.1 months, p = 0.386). Conclusions: The addition of anti-angiogenic drugs to chemotherapy regimens may reduce the risk of chemotherapy-related ILD progression in patients with NSCLC-ILD.
